LEED certified!

Bluffton, OH—Andy Chappell-Dick recently earned the Green Building
Certification Institute’s LEED® Green Associate designation.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, the LEED (Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System is the
nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation
of high performance green buildings. A LEED Green Associate is an
individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and skill needed to
understand and support green design, construction, and operations. Those
who earn the LEED Green Associate credential also must undertake
continuing education designed to keep LEED Professionals current with
changes to green building technology and the LEED Rating Systems.

With over twenty years of building and related experience, Chappell-Dick
is launching Small House Bluffton, a contracting business specializing in
innovative and energy efficient design, construction and remodeling.
Small House Bluffton was runner-up in the 2012 Business Plan Competition
sponsored by Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs.

LEED is not new to Bluffton.  The recent expansion of Bluffton Hospital
was certified LEED Silver and Bluffton University’s new athletic center is
also a registered project.

According to Chappell-Dick, the first project of Small House Bluffton is a
new home to be built this summer at 207 North Lawn Avenue.  The
construction project is registered with LEED, and has established the
certification goal of LEED Platinum, the highest level available.  If
successful, the home will be among the first to achieve this rating in
northwest Ohio.

The U.S Green Building Council is a private non-profit organization
dedicated to the creation of healthy, efficient green buildings. Private
sector leaders established LEED in 2000 and it has quickly become the most
widely used, voluntary, market-driven building rating program in the
country. LEED is largely responsible for the explosive growth of
energy-efficient, high-performance construction, which supports or creates
nearly eight million jobs across all 50 states and contributes $554
billion to the U.S. economy annually.
